Shri Krishan Kumar,

Secretary,

Department of School Education, Govt. of Punjab

Chandigarh,

Dear Krishan Kumar Ji,

Mr. Ranjit Singh OBE, Global Chairman of Guru Nanak International Education Trust, UK is interested in providing facilities like desks and benches for the children, pure water and upgrading the toilets for girls and boys in Govt. Primary School for Sikligars in Ajjowal (Hoshiarpur). The school is located adjoining to thatched huts of Sikligars who are living below poverty line. The source of earning of Sikligars is making of knives and other implements.

Mr. Ranjit Singh OBE and I had visited the school a few months back and felt the need to provide more facilities to the children than already made available by the Government. Even the Sikligars requested that a submersible pump may be providing near Gurudwara so that their problem of drinking water could be permanently solved. Earlier we had requested Dr. G Vajralingam, Additional Chief Secretary and Honorable Smt. Aruna Choudhary Minister of Higher Education to allow in writing so that we are able to upgrade the infrastructure of the school and provide other facilities which teachers and children may be needing. As no response has been available till date, I am writing this letter to your good self.

Guru Nanak International Education Trust, UK has an Indian chapter which is registered here and has also got approval from the Home Ministry under Foreign Contribution Regulation Act. A written permission by your good self will convince the Home Ministry that the funds are being utilized for providing suitable facilities to the children studying in Govt. Primary School for Sikligars, Ajjowal (Hoshiarpur).

I am in charge of Indian chapter and therefore I shall be grateful if early permission is granted to Guru Nanak International Education Trust to spend money for upgrading the infrastructure of the school.

If any further clarification is needed then I can come to your office because I am living in Mohali.

With Regards

J.S. Ahluwalia, IRS
